Volunteers needed (particularly on Fridays)

What we are looking for:

People of any background who are caring and supportive, insightful and willing to help adults with learning disabilities to reach their potential. We are primarily a horticultural project for adults with learning disabilities to work, do and make things we sell. At Boaz theres a lot of different tasks members take ownership of with support.

At Boaz you could be helping members; collecting eggs from the chickens, planting up hanging baskets, making cards, painting our birdboxes, chopping carrots, digging over the allotment or cuddling our baby lambs. We all help one another and even if you have no experience of doing these activities the key thing is a willingness to learn and support our members as we work on projects together. We are open to members on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Fridays from 9.30-3.30.

How much time/ how often?

You can volunteer from 3 hours a week upwards. At this time we are particularly looking for people who can come and help on Fridays, but any days you can offer would help us. Ideally we would like you to commit to the same times each week so we can plan ahead.

Formal stuff

We DBS check our staff and volunteers. You don't have to be able bodied to volunteer with us as there are a range of activities to try out, including office based tasks. All volunteers have an information pack when starting at Boaz.

At Boaz we work as a team but there is a lot of 1:1 supporting within small groups in the daily tasks. We will need to have a friendly talk through things and look round with you before we make a joint decision if we are right for eachother.

We do keep records at Boaz and comply with the data protection act.

About Us.

The Boaz Project is a small charity in an idillic settingon Hill Farm, Sutton Scotney just north of Winchester. We exist to give dignity and confidence and purposeful work to adults with learning disabilities. Our charity has a Christian heart but the people here aren't all Christians. We enable members to develop independence, skills in a supportive, safe, friendly and inclusive environment.
