Test Valley Volunteer Centre

Have you ever thought of volunteering?

Volunteering is open to all - whether you are disabled or able-bodied; whatever your age or experiences and education. Volunteers come from all walks of life. Maybe you are recently retired or looking to increase your confidence and skills prior to returning to work. Maybe you have finished college and have time to spare at the moment.

Benefits of volunteering

Community involvement through volunteering is a great way to share your skills and experiences with others. It’s also a really good way to make friends. Volunteering can help you develop and update your skills, help to get the job that really interests you, or can give you the experience to help with a course in further education.

What is it all about?

Volunteering means giving your time and skills to helping others. It can vary from:

Escorting an elderly person to hospital and offering a listening ear
Advocating for someone with learning difficulties
    Doing conservation work
    Helping out in a playgroup
Making tea for a local group
Acting as a Trustee, or School Governor
    Becoming a Walks Leader

Whatever you would like to do, there is bound to be a volunteer opportunity!

How can I find out more?

If you would like to know more, get in touch with the Volunteer Centre for an informal chat. You’ll have the chance to talk about different opportunities and find one that’s right for you. We encourage you to go along and talk with the group about what is involved and we’ll offer support until you feel you are settled.
