Community Innovations
What is Community Innovations?
The Community Innovations initiative is a joint scheme between Hampshire County Council, Health, district councils and the voluntary sector. It is aimed at promoting the well-being of older people, who are at risk of losing their independence, but who currently do not meet the criteria for Adult Services Department support.
The scheme aims to promote older people’s independence and well-being and reduce their need for emergency support and other services by helping them access community support.
How does it work?
Each team consists of a Social Worker, Occupational Therapist, Support Worker and Development Worker, with the services of a community nurse linked to the team too. For more info please follow visit the Hampshire County Councils Website.
What role does TVCS play in Community Innovations?
TVCS employs the Community Innovations Development Worker, enabling the partnership between statutory and voluntary organisations.
What does the Community Innovations Development Worker do?
The Community Innovations Development worker is the link between the local community and the rest of the innovations team, providing information on community groups, clubs, activities and services. The development worker will also assist other local community groups and organisations in developing new groups and activities in order to increase the opportunities available for the older community.
Who is the Development Worker?
Shirley Fergusson is the TVCS Community Innovations Development Worker and you can contact her on the details below. Shirley works 32 hours a week, splitting the time between Romsey and Andover. Shirley would love to hear from anyone with any information on existing groups, clubs and activities within the Romsey and Andover areas and is also looking for ideas for new groups or services.
